Towcester Racecourse will return to National Hunt racing in autumn 2027, giving the jumps calendar another venue after nearly nine years without live horse racing at the Northamptonshire track. The comeback, built around a new partnership with Betway, will restore racing to a course that last staged a fixture in May 2018 and had its racing operation shut down after entering administration later that summer.

Towcester will return as Betway Towcester Racecourse, with Betway installed as principal strategic partner and holding exclusive betting rights across fixtures at the venue. Orchestrate, the site owners, is investing more than £2 million to refurbish the racing surface and modernize spectator facilities. The work is designed to get the course ready for an autumn 2027 reopening, while Orchestrate continues working with the British Horseracing Authority on the racecourse licences needed before fixtures can be staged again. The BHA still has to finalize the fixture-list arrangements as well.

Towcester’s racing roots go back to the 18th century, and the modern course was officially opened in 1928. After horse racing ended, the venue became better known for greyhound racing and events. A scheduled 3 January fixture was later cancelled because the racecourse could not stage the meeting. The BHA was saddened by the loss of Towcester’s racing and helped redistribute fixtures to other jumps venues.

Mike Davis, Orchestrate’s chairman, called the partnership a long-held ambition to bring racing back for the local community and racing fans. Lewis Knowles, Betway’s PR manager, said the company wants to create a unique experience for racegoers, owners, trainers and jockeys at the revived track.
